ART SHOW

Dear Parents,

We had two amazing weeks of school.  The children worked so hard preparing for the art show.  They made flowers, cupcakes, lollipops, gumball machines, and several dot pictures.  We want to extend a special thank you to everyone who contributed to making the art show a success; such as Miss Ginny, Miss Lisa, Coach Jared, and Janice from Lakeshore Learning, and of course all our parents.

We celebrated Aiden's 4th birthday.  Thank you to his family for the delicious cupcakes.
Happy 4th Birthday Aiden!

In music this week, we  had a visit from Tessa, harpist.  The children each had a turn playing the harp.

This week we introduced our unit on Nutrition by learning about the five food groups (fruit, vegetables, grain, protein, and dairy). We read several books from each one of the food groups.  One of the books we  listening to was The Dairy Group (Healthy Eating with My plate), by Katie Clark.

The children enjoyed making foods from our food groups.  The children cut up strawberries, bananas, orange juice, and added yogurt.  We then put it into the blender and made delicious smoothies (dairy and fruit group).

We also made place mats with our food groups which even included a picture of each child  drinking a glass of milk. The children then practiced  "milking a cow." They had so much fun pretending Suzy the blow-up cow was a real cow.

Having a rest after a hard week of work!

Love,

Ms. Bonne and Ms. Barbara

All About Wayne Thibeaud!

Dear Parents,
We completed our unit on Wayne Thibeaud. This week we replicated his famous gum ball machine.  The children used various mediums for this project such as tacky glue, glue dots, glue sticks, paint, and glitter.  They painted the "gum balls,"cut out all different shapes,  and finally glued it all together!  They used many different skills in creating this project.                             The results were phenomenal!

In addition, the children each drew their self-portraits, which will be included in their autobiographies for the art show.
