Dear Parents,
We finally completed our nutrition unit. We took a little break to work on our Mother's Day presents. Some of the books we read about the Five Food Groups were: The Dairy Group, The Protein Group, The Grain Group, Drinking Water, The Vegetable Group, and The Fruit Group, all written by Helen Frost We then made our own Food Group Booklets and "Healthy Plate" place mats.

This week we learned all about recycling. The children also learned a new recycle song. "R-E-C-Y-C-L-E", its really up to you and me to RECYCLE! We then read, Where does all the garbage go, by Melvin Berger. We recycled single serve cereal boxes, push up ice cream cups &sticks, and scraps of colored paper. The children made the most fabulous recycled trains with them. They also cut strips of paper and glued them together to make train tracks. They had so much fun racing their trains around the track. We now have a recycle bin in our classroom.
We celebrated Tihan's fourth birthday this week. Happy Birthday Tihan! Thank you to Tihan's family for the delicious cupcakes and the books.
On Friday, we made our own pizza to celebrate the completion of the alphabet letters, which even included writing the entire alphabet. There has been consistent growth in the children's fine motor and writing skills. We are so proud of their accomplishments!
