ALL ABOUT PICASSO!

Dear Parents,

This week we learned about Pablo Picasso who was born more than 120 years ago in Malaga, Spain.  He is known for being the co-founder of Cubism which is a style where parts of the painting are broken up and re-painted in an abstract form.  You can see your children’s “Inspired by Picasso,” portraits on the back wall of our classroom.

 The children created Picasso’s “Hand with Flowers” by painting circles of different colors, and adding leaves and stems to the flowers.  They also added their handprints to the flower stems (to make it look like they were holding it in their hands).  The results were amazing!    The children were so proud of their accomplishments!  They kept walking by the bulletin board and admiring their art work.
 
We also celebrated Maddox's fourth birthday.  Thank you to Maddox's family for the delicious treats.

Picasso work was divided into periods.  In The Blue Period, were sad looking paintings using blue and blue-green colors.  The Rose Period, which was a happy style with
orange and pink colors.

We ended our week by doing a science experiment on capillary action, or in other words walking water. 

~First we placed 6 plastic glasses on the table.

~Next we added water and food coloring to every other glass.A

~ We then folded 3 paper towel in half 3 times.

~Finally, we placed the end of each towel into the glass.

~ We waited ten minutes and then checked it.
