FALL IS HERE!

Dear Parents,

We had a great week learning about fall.  We introduced our fall unit by reading What Makes the Seasons, How do you Know it's Fall?, and Watch it Grow.  We learned that fall always comes after summer and before winter.  Cooler weather is a sign that fall has arrived.  Leaves are changing colors and pumpkins are ready to be picked.

We created a fall bulletin board by sponge painting colorful leaves.  We also cut out acorns, painted them, and added coffee for texture.  Finally, we added a furry squirrel to our bulletin board.

The children had so much fun decorating pumpkins using googly eyes, foam shapes, and crinkly hair.  We also took a nature walk and collected lots of colorful leaves.  We then sorted the leaves by colors and then glued them onto a poster. What a beautful display of fall leaves!

We concluded our week by doing a "Magic Colored Milk Science Project."  First we poured milk onto a plate and then added food coloring.  We then dipped a cotton swab into dishwashing detergent and then touched the coated swab to the milk in the center of the plate.  The children were amazed at the results.  They became so excited as the colors swirled around the plate. Ask your child about it.
