ALL ABOUT SYMMETRY!

Dear Parents,

This week we learned about symmetry.  We demonstrated it to the class by taking a picture of a child, cutting it in half, and then showing the children how both sides of their face look the same. We also showed them how to figure out if something is symmetric or asymmetric by folding various shapes in half.  I then gave the children a
picture of themselves cut it half.  The children were instructed to complete the other half of the picture.

We completed a symmetric/not symmetric chart.  The children glued symmetric shapes and letters to one side of a chart and asymmetric or not symmetric shapes to the other side.

We completed the week by conducting a science experiment.  We grew our own crystals.  The results were stunning!

Delicious lunches!

Next week we looking forward to working on our winter unit.

Speaking about winter,  please send your child to school every day with snow pants, a winter jackets, mittens, and a hat.  It is very cold in our playground and we try to go out everyday!
